The main objective of the sub-project BRIE (Biomass Resource use, Innovation and Efficiency) is formation of essential conditions for establishment of the closed bioenergetics cycle in the region. This will become part of optimal usage of renewable energetic resources that are available. This sub-project initiates agricultural and forestry sectors to energetic biomass production in the region. It will help, among others, to create employment in the field of usage of renewable energetic resources.

One of the most important parts of the sub-project is the analysis of existing situation in the area of energy usage and efficiency and the proposal of eventual optimal development in relation to the potential of the region.

The sub-project BRIE aims to initiate and support functional consortium (cluster) of all sectors (firms, agricultural and forestry subjects, public sector, housing etc.) due to collaboration and exchange of know-how. This will encourage economic growth in the region stimulated by cultivation, transformation and consumption of biomass.

Education, educational trainings and transfer of know-how among all partners is another important part of the sub-project. The growth of the energy use of biomass is the indicative objective of the sub-project: in 2008 on the 2-3 multiple and in 2013 on the 5 multiple compared to present conditions.
