Workshop of the sub-project BRIE partners in Italy
On 14 June 2006 in the neighbourhood of Gemona (Friuli V.G.), all partners were present
on a workshop of the sub-project BRIE.
The Czech republic was represented by the Project
manager and his assistant. With regard to the fact that a working programme had
been laid out into one day only, the working tempo was very high. During the
workshop held in Osoppo were present, in addition to the partners and invited
experts, also the interested Italian farmers and representatives of the
Municipalities. Obviously, the most important was a visit of the experimental
fields on which the Italian colleagues cultivate various clones of poplar and
willow destined to the agro-energy production (short rotation forestry).
In addition
to this excursion to the fields guided by the Italian expert in a sector of
genetic and cultivation of these species, Mr. Franco Alasia, from C.N.E.R, we
had participated also in a small workshop dedicated to the problematic of
cultivation, transformation and energy utilization of these arboreal plants.
In the
afternoon, we moved to near Tarcento, where a meeting of the Steering Committee
and Technical Committee was held. During this meeting we were mainly assessing a
progress of the sub-project up to now, problems and tasks to be realized in the
second semester 2006. A series of duties and tasks to be carried out in a short
time and in the best way by the Czech partners, had emerged from this meeting.
An important task for us will be the Steering Committee meeting and workshop
that we are going to organize in autumn in the Czech republic.
The biggest
contribution for the Czech partner was the experimental fields visit and a
consultancy with the main geneticist, specialist on the arboreal plants. Regarding
a state and situation of the sub-project, we agreed with the lead partner of
BRIE on the extra visit and meeting with Umbrian experts in order to get to
know a method and techniques of the Italian partners.
